The weights of 51kg (flyweight), 67kg (welterweight) and 81kg (light heavyweight) were introduced for the first time.   George McKenzie 54kg (United Scottish BC) becomes Olympic Bronze medalist (1920 Antwerp, Belgium and again in 1924 in Paris (France) along with Harold Franks 81kg (St. Pancras ABC).   F. Whitbread 69kg (Fulham ABC) and E. White 75kg (Lynn ABC) become Olympians at the 1920 Games (Antwerp, France).

 

However, both Harry Mallin 75kg (Eton Old Boys ABC) and Ron Rawson 91kg (Polytechnic ABC) become 'Olympic Champions' at the Antwerp (Belgium) Games.   P. Zoller 67kg (Polytechnic ABC) losing finalist (1914, 1920) changes his name to P. O' Hanrahan and wins (2) titles (1924, 1925).

Harry Mallin 75kg (Metropolitan Police ABC) was to eventually became a double Olympic Champion (1920, 1924) (the only Englishman ever to do so), European Champion (1924) and (5) times ABA National Champion.  

 

Alex Ireland 69kg (United Scottish BC) fresh from his Olympic Silver medal (1920 Antwerp, Belgium) and William Culbertson 51kg (United Scottish BC) winning a bronze medal.   John Cater 57kg (United Scottish BC) also became an Olympian in 1920.   Amazingly Les Tarrant (Armstrong-Siddeley ABC) was Champion at (54kg) and Finalist at (51kg) in the same year.

Les Tarrant 51kg (Armstrong-Siddeley ABC) wins the second of his (3) titles (1921, 1922, 1924).   Harry Mitchell 81kg (Polytechnic ABC) wins the first of his (4) titles (1922, 1923, 1924, 1925).   Les Tarrant also became an Olympian in 1924 Games (Paris, France), along with Alfred Barber 54kg (Brighton ABC), Edward White 69kg (Limehouse and Poplar ABC) and A. Clifton (PLA Police ABC).

Eddie Warwick 51kg (Columbia ABC) wins his first title going on to win (3) times (1923, 1924, 1925).   Eddie Egan 91kg (Oxford University ABC) and now heavyweight Champion was an American studying in the United Kingdom.   He was also the 1920 Olympic Champion at 81kg (Antwerp, Belgium) for the USA.

 

Harry Mallin 75kg (Eton Manor ABC) wins the last of his (5) National ABA titles (1919, 1920, 1921, 1922, 1923).   He won (2) Olympic medals (1920 Antwerp, Belgium, 1924, Paris, France) and was 1924 European champion.   He retired, undefeated, after 300 contests.   G. Shorter 60kg (Clapton Federation ABC) goes onto become an Olympian in Paris (France) in 1924.

John Elliott 75kg (Polytechnic ABC) wins an Olympic Bronze medals at the 1924 Olympic Games (Paris, France).   Archie Rule 54kg (Amman Valley BC) and F. Crawley 75kg (Army) became 1925 European Champions (Stockholm, Sweden).

William James 51kg (Garrison ABC), E. Viney 60kg (ISBA) and D. Lister (ISBA) become Silver medallists at the 1925 European Championships (Stockholm, Sweden).   This is the first time the European Championships were contested for.   The 1924 Championship were actually awarded to the highest ranked European at the 1924 Olympic Games (Paris, France).   This was repeated in 1928 (Amsterdam, Holland) and 1932 (Los Angeles, USA).

The first time the tournament is held at the Royal Albert Hall (London).   Fred Webster 54kg (St. Pancras ABC) wins his first title going onto win again in 1927 at (57kg) and then in 1928 at (60kg).

 

The 1926 Championships witnessed winners from both Denmark and South Africa.   B.   Marshall 69kg (Newport, Wales BC) beats the 1924 Olympic Champion, Hans Neilson.   H. Dingley 60kg (Glasgow BC) became an Olympian at the 1924 Games (Paris, France).

F. Crawley 75kg (Army) retains his title whilst adding the 1925 European title (Stockholm, Sweden).   The contest between Harry Dunn 69kg (Lynn ABC) and W. Marlow (Polytechnic ABC) was described at the time as ". a rugged, distinctly rough affair".   Fred Webster 57kg (St. Pancras ABC), Harry Dunn 69kg (Lynn ABC), Fred Mallin 75kg (Eton Manor ABC) and Alf Jackson 81kg (St. Pancras ABC) go onto become Olympians at the 1928 Games (Amsterdam, Holland).

All rounds now become (3) minute duration.   Fred Mallin 75kg (Eton Manor ABC) wins the first of his (5) consecutive titles.   His brother, Harry Mallin also won (5) titles.   Amazingly both Fred and Harry Mallin boxed F. Whitbread (Fulham and PLA Police ABC) to win their first titles (1919, 1928).   Cuthbert Taylor 51kg (Gabalfa Cardiff BC), John Garland 54kg (Gordon Highlander), Fred Perry 57kg (Gabalfa Cardiff BC) and Joe Goyder 81kg (Old Goldsmiths ABC) became Olympians at the 1928 Games (Amsterdam, Holland).   Fred Webster 60kg (St. Pancras ABC) becomes the first man to win (3) consecutive ABA National titles at (3) different weights Bantam (54kg) 1926, Feather (57kg) 1927, Light (60kg) 1928.   This record would not be equalled until 1993.

Joe Goyder (Old Goldsmiths ABC) wins his first of (2) ABA titles (1931).   Fred Mallin 75kg (Eton Manor ABC) wins the second of his (5) titles.   Freddie Meacham 57kg (Civil Service ABC) wins the title on a disqualification having won the 1928 title on a disqualification.   He went onto become Commonwealth Champion in 1930 (Hamilton, Canada).

 

Pat (H) Floyd 91kg wins the first of his (4) titles (1929, 1934, 1935, 1945).   He was a finalist on (2) other occasions (1932, 1938).   He also won a Bronze European medal in 1934 (Budapest, Hungary) and became Commonwealth Champion in 1934 (London, England).   Tommy Pardoe 51kg (Metropolitan ABC) goes onto became an Olympian at the 1932 Games (Los Angeles, USA).
